Perhaps one day, years from now, I will scroll back to this and see that there was a time in the fall of 2011 where the longest I had ever run was a Marathon, and that it had taken me five full hours to do it.
Welcome to ULTRA RUNNING FROM SCRATCH. This blog is meant to be a record and a how-to. So for me this will be a record of what I've done, continue to do, and the progress I make. And for everyone else it can serve as a what to do or a what-not to do.
Right now, I am 13 weeks away from running my first 50k, the Ray Miller 50K in beautiful Malibu California. I'm two weeks removed from running the Santa Clarita Marathon, coming in at just over 5 hours in about 5:06 I think. That was a frustrating experience because 1) the course wasn't my favorite 2) conditions were tricky 3) a few bad breaks at the aid stations meant we lost about 5 minutes.
But now I begin my move towards the 50k. I'm very confident in finishing THAT distance, but my eyes are really on my 50 miler in April.
